Stop Banging!!!

Imagine people banging on the windows of your home eight hours a day every day. This is what animals at the zoo will have to endure, the other day I witnessed and endless stream of children and adults alike doing just that and you’d think the adults would be enlightened enough to refrain from doing this.

When you visit a zoo, please do not bang at the windows to the animals, you are stressing them out. If there at least had been signs notifying people to not engage in this behaviour.

A sign found across the zoo was one asking people to not feed the animals, something I find frightening that it is needed. Still, good of the zoo to at least put these up.

Pride

Anyone should take pride in their work or find something else to work with. I do take pride in what I do with the cameras, though some images I am more proud of than others. This is one such image. Technical quality isn’t the main concern for a driven photographer, anyone can learn to shoot technically good photos. The ability to capture the moments are at the heart of any photographer dedicated to documenting the world as it is, often you have mere seconds at your disposal before the moment is gone which was the case with this one.

I have come to a point where an upgrade of most of my equipment is in dire need, but due to the last two years restrictions and lack of concerts and other events rendering me unable to work the funds are depleted. HELL NO!!!

Finally, there’s a light at the end of the tunnel, I thought. The other week I was approached by an online rock publication about a collaboration with me as a concert photographer. At last something happens and I might have a chance to salvage the sinking ship, sinking because of all those pesky restrictions imposed due to the Chinese affliction.

Yeah right!!!

When I recieved the agreement document they wanted me to sign the light faded instantly. They wanted exclusive rights to the images published by them and that could have been acceptable, but they wanted them without compensating me. They wanted me to provide them with unique concert photos that normally sell for between 2,000 and 5,000 USD each with exclusive rights.

Yeah, no, that ain’t gonna happen!!!

It didn’t stop there though. They wanted me to agree to surrender copyright without compensation if and when they arranged promotional shoots with artists. The usual way is that a publication (or anyone) who is an intermediary for these shoots get a finders fee, a precentage of what the photographer is paid, but the rights to the material remain with the photographer.

Yeah, no, that ain’t gonna happen either!!!

To sum it up, all I can say at this point is HELL NO!!!

Color of the year 2021

Every year Pantone selects which color that is the color of the year which influences purchasing decisions in multiple industries, including fashion, home furnishings and graphic design. As a photographer I have to in some extent follow this when adding images to stock image exchanges to increase sales. Last year the chosen color was Classic Blue.

However not all home design companies are aware of these trending colors which I realized when I needed cushions for my kitchen chairs and went to the local store of the Rusta chain. There was absolutely nothing what so ever in the color blue among their home furnishing/design items. So much for me trying to be trendy

The color of the year 2021 is actually two colors, Ultimate Gray and Illuminating Yellow. Guess it’ll be a lot of sunflowers and dandelions shot this year.
